ED rings for men: compare FirmTech's three rings

FirmTech makes three ED rings for men: the TechRing at $275, and the Performance Ring and MaxPR at $60 each. All three are doctor-designed penile tension rings with the same peno-scrotal fit for firmer, longer-lasting erections. The TechRing is the only one that tracks your erections with sensors and an app.

What is the best tension ring for ED?

The best tension ring for ED is the one that matches your goal. The Performance Ring ($60) suits most men who want simple, comfortable support for up to 12 hours. The MaxPR ($60) suits men who want the tightest fit and can keep to 90 minutes. The TechRing ($275) suits men who want data.

A ring supports erections while worn; it does not treat the cause of ED. A doctor can help with that.

Penile tension rings for erectile dysfunction

What is a penile tension ring?

A penile tension ring is a band worn at the base of the penis that slows blood from flowing back out, so an erection stays firmer for longer. They are also called constriction rings, erection rings or ED rings. The effect is mechanical and lasts only while the ring is on.

FirmTech's rings differ from a single band. Each one loops around the base of the penis and behind the testicles, an anatomical peno-scrotal design developed with urologists, so pressure is spread evenly. A hook-and-loop strap adjusts tension to your size. FirmTech says the rings keep blood in without blocking ejaculation.

How to wear a FirmTech ring

  1. Step 1

    Open

Unhook the latch and open the loops. You can do this while soft.

  2. Step 2

    Place

Drop the testicles through one loop; set the other around the base of the penis.

  3. Step 3

    Adjust

Tighten until snug but not tight. Pressure should feel firm, never painful.

  4. Step 4

    Remove on time

Up to 12 hours for TechRing and Performance Ring, 90 minutes for MaxPR.

Check your size on the ED ring size chart, and read how erection rings work and their side effects before first use.

How we chose

FirmTech, the business that publishes this site, wrote this page. Every ring, bundle and accessory here is a FirmTech product, so this is not an independent review. We judged each entry on the same criteria:

  • Safe wear time, as stated by FirmTech
  • Features, mainly whether the ring tracks
  • Warranty length
  • Price, shown for every ring but not used to rank

Common questions

Which FirmTech ring should I buy?
Pick by goal. Choose the TechRing ($275) if you want firmer erections plus data on firmness, duration and nighttime erections. Choose the Performance Ring ($60) for simple, comfortable support you can wear up to 12 hours. Choose the MaxPR ($60) for the tightest fit and most intensity, worn up to 90 minutes at a time.
What are the best tension rings for ED?
The best tension ring for ED is the one that matches your goal and fits comfortably. Among FirmTech rings, the Performance Ring is the simple everyday choice at $60, the MaxPR is the tightest at $60 with a 90-minute limit, and the TechRing at $275 is the only one that tracks. A doctor can advise on ED itself.
What's the difference between the Performance Ring and the MaxPR?
Both cost $60, use the same doctor-designed peno-scrotal shape and fit up to 5.5 inches of erect girth. The MaxPR is slimmer and snugger: FirmTech rates its tightness 5 of 5 against 3 of 5 for the Performance Ring, and limits MaxPR wear to 90 minutes against 12 hours.
Do I need the TechRing, or is a $60 ring enough?
A $60 ring is enough if you only want firmer, longer erections, since all three FirmTech rings provide that. The TechRing adds built-in sensors, Bluetooth, an app and nighttime erection tracking. That matters if you want to measure your sexual health over time or share data with a doctor.
What are penile tension rings for erectile dysfunction?
Penile tension rings, also called constriction or erection rings, sit at the base of the penis and slow blood from flowing back out, so an erection stays firmer for longer. FirmTech's versions loop around both the base and behind the testicles, an anatomical peno-scrotal design developed with urologists.
Are FirmTech rings designed by doctors?
Yes. FirmTech says its rings are designed with urologists. Its medical advisory board includes urologists John Mulhall, MD, Amy Pearlman, MD, and James Hotaling, MD, and the company was founded by emergency physician Elliot Justin, MD, who leads the science behind the TechRing.
What does the TechRing measure?
The TechRing measures firmness and duration during sex, plus the count, strength and length of nighttime erections. The free FirmTech app rolls these into an Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100 and lets you log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication to see what affects it.
